Thanks for Throwing Your Shoe

A series of user-submitted photos of people holding up shoes to thank Muntadar al-Zeidi (who may or may not be getting tortured as we speak). A nice idea, even though I’m pretty sure this is technically considered an insult (showing the sole of your shoe) in Arab countries. What’s the etiquette?
